ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

• At least 6 month’s experience working in a hospital/nursing home

DESIRABLE CRITERIA:

• A minimum of two GCEs/GCSEs grade A-C (or equivalent)
• NVQ Level 2 Care Award or equivalent
• NVQ Level 3 Care Award or equivalent
• Currently studying towards a healthcare related degree
• Registered with NISCC to work in private nursing/residential homes

HEALTHCARE ASSISTANTS MUST:

• Provide evidence of mandatory training updates (see below)
• Complete an Enhanced AccessNI check with Balmoral Healthcare
• Provide evidence of vaccinations (see below – NOT REQUIRED FOR WORK IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR)

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS 

• Fire Safety – yearly
• Manual Handling – yearly
• CPR – yearly
• Infection Prevention and Control – yearly
• Protection of Vulnerable Adults and Children – 3 yearly
• First Aid – yearly
• HIV Awareness – once only

VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS – MUST BE CONFIRMED BY PROOF OF VACCINATION OR TITRE CHECK TO CONFIRM IMMUNITY (NOT REQUIRED FOR WORK IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR)

• BCG (Tuberculosis)
• Measles
• Rubella
• Hepatitis B
• Varicella (Chicken Pox)
• If new to the Trust you must also have an antibody test for Hepatitis C and HIV 1 and 2

(Results must be from a UK based laboratory)
