Registration Criteria for Social Care Worker

 

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Registered or eligible to register with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC).
  • Commitment to upholding the NISCC Codes of Practice and RQIA regulatory standards.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to record care accurately.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Compassionate, reliable, and respectful approach to supporting vulnerable individuals.
  • Willingness to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, to meet service user needs.
  • Ability to follow care plans and respond appropriately in emergencies.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced AccessNI check required prior to employment.

 

Education Criteria:

  • Minimum of GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent qualification/experience in literacy and numeracy).
  • Willingness to work towards or already hold a QCF Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) or equivalent, in line with NISCC requirements.
  • Commitment to completing mandatory training (e.g., moving & handling, safeguarding, medication awareness, infection prevention).

Desirable Criteria:

  • Previous experience in domiciliary or social care.
  • Access to a car and full UK driving licence.
  • Relevant training in moving & handling, first aid, medication, safeguarding, or dementia care.
