Registration Criteria for Registered Nurse
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Hold a degree, diploma or other nursing qualification allowing registration with NMC
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
- A minimum of 6 month’s experience working in a hospital/nursing home (completed your 6 month’s preceptorship programme, if applicable)
REGISTERED NURSES MUST:
- Provide evidence of mandatory training updates (see below)
- Complete an Enhanced AccessNI check with Balmoral Healthcare
- Provide evidence of vaccinations (see below – NOT REQUIRED FOR WORK IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR)
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS – THESE MUST BE CONFIRMED BY CERTIFICATE/COURSE CONTENT
- Manual Handling – yearly
- Fire Safety – yearly
- CPR – yearly
- Infection Prevention and Control – yearly
- HIV Awareness – once only
- Anaphylaxis – once only
- Protection of Vulnerable Adults and Children – 3 yearly
- Admin of Medications – 3 yearly
- Hyponatremia – once only (Applicable only to NHS work)
- Venepuncture & Cannulation – once only (Applicable only to NHS work)
- Admin of IV Medications – 3 yearly (Applicable only to NHS work)
- Haemovigilance/Right Patient, Right Blood – once only (Applicable only to NHS work)
VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS – MUST BE CONFIRMED BY PROOF OF VACCINATION OR TITRE CHECK TO CONFIRM IMMUNITY (NOT REQUIRED FOR WORK IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR)
- BCG (Tuberculosis)
- Measles
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella (Chicken Pox)
- If new to the Trust you must also have an antibody test for Hepatitis C and HIV 1 and 2
(Results must be from a UK based laboratory)
