Registration Criteria for Senior Care Assistant
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Have a minimum of six months recent experience as a Senior Care Assistant in a Residential Home Setting
- Must be registered with NISCC
- Have previous experience of managing and administering medications
DESIRABLE CRITERIA:
- A minimum of two GCEs/GCSEs grade A-C (or equivalent)
- NVQ Level 2 Care Award or equivalent
- NVQ Level 3 Care Award or equivalent
- Currently studying towards a healthcare related degree
- Registered with NISCC to work in private nursing/residential homes
SENIOR CARE ASSISTANTS MUST:
- Provide evidence of mandatory training updates (see below)
- Complete an Enhanced AccessNI check with Balmoral Healthcare
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
- Medication Management – yearly
- Fire Safety – yearly
- Manual Handling – yearly
- CPR – yearly
- Infection Prevention and Control – yearly
- Protection of Vulnerable Adults and Children – 3 yearly
- First Aid – yearly
- HIV Awareness – once only
